If you’re looking for a day trip from Cancun with no tourists, look no further than Isla Mujeres. This small island off the coast of Mexico is about 45 minutes by ferry from downtown Cancun.

Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is a popular tourist destination and is known for its beautiful white sand beaches. It’s also a great spot for shopping, dining and nightlife. If you’re looking for more of an adventure, Playa del Carmen is only 45 minutes away from Cancun.
There are many things to do in Playa del Carmen:
Go surfing with Sunset Surf School! They offer private lessons, group classes, sunset tours and more! Their surf instructors have been surfing since they were kids so they know what they’re doing!
Playa Palms Resort offers yoga classes every day at 9am and 5pm – just check their website before you go because they may not be offering them all the time. There’s also a gym on site if you want to work out after your class.
You can rent kayaks from Kayak Nautilus or Island Tours Cozumel & Isla Mujeres; both companies offer guided tours where you’ll see dolphins swimming alongside your boat.
Tours and activities
The hotel zone is your best bet for a day of leisure. If you’re looking to explore the city, consider the Parque Maya (which is located in the hotel zone). You can make your way through this large amusement park by foot or by bike. There are plenty of rides and attractions here —from roller coasters to ferris wheels—so be sure to bundle up with sunscreen and water before heading out!
One activity that’s sure to get your blood pumping is scuba diving. Cancun has some of the best diving spots in all of Mexico—and since it’s so close to Cozumel Island, one of our favorite places for diving on vacation, there’s no reason not

Beaches
You might be wondering, what makes Cancun beaches so great? The beaches are public and you can use them for free. There are many options of what to do at the beach in Cancun, from swimming and sunbathing to enjoying a meal at one of the many beach clubs around town. Some of these clubs include Coco Bongo Beach Club, which is located on Playa Azul Beach, or Viva Beach Club, which has a relaxed vibe with an ample amount of seating areas for guests who want to enjoy some food or drinks while they’re there.
Chichen Itza
If you’re in Cancun, you have to visit the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, and an absolute must-see for any tourist visiting Mexico.
Chichen Itza has several temples that have been reconstructed since they were first built by the Mayans over 1,000 years ago. You can also see many unexcavated pyramids here as well as a cenote (a large natural sinkhole).
The Chichén Itzá archeological site contains some of the best preserved examples of Maya architecture in Central America. Built between 800 and 1200 AD by successive generations who had access to skills passed down through generations and materials from nearby locations such as Coba (where limestone was quarried), this site boasts both long-standing stonework and intricate artwork carved into them over time by skilled artisans using primitive tools such as stone chisels or hammers made out of rock; grinding stones; wooden mallets; tweezers made out of jadeite blades or deer antlers (for removing excess material); small knives made out of obsidian blades attached to handles made out leather strips wrapped around wooden sticks; etcetera…
